Download Gmail Email Automatically to a Mail Server

Pull Gmail into Exchange or a local mailbox on a schedule using IMAP and OAuth2—not Gmail’s retired “check other accounts” feature, and not a desktop client left running.

Gmail as the source, not the hub

The hub page is about Gmail stopping POP fetch of other accounts. This page is the opposite direction: Gmail holds the mail, you want it automatically copied into Exchange, Hexamail Server, or Vault.

Do that with IMAP + OAuth2, not with a user password and not with POP if you care about labels/folders. Leave a copy in Gmail unless you intend to empty it.

Client vs collector

Thunderbird IMAP is fine for a person. A company needs a service: schedule, many accounts, header-based routing, optional delete policy, AV. That is POP3 Downloader despite the name — it speaks Gmail IMAP, labels, IDLE.

Gmail-aware IMAP, OAuth2, folder/label download, SMTP delivery to your server. If you were using Gmail as the unified inbox instead, go back to Gmail POP3 alternative.
